Tammy L. Garceau, LICSW

Clinical Director / Clinician

Tammy is a graduate of Boston College, Graduate School of Social Work, and is a

Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker.  Tammy has co-founded two wellness collaboratives in Rhode Island, and she is currently a managing partner at The Center For Counseling and Wellness, LLC. in East Greenwich, RI. 

Counseling For Wellness, Inc. is a private practice which Tammy established in 2004.  Prior to private practice,

Ms. Garceau gained valuable experience in her roles as a public school social worker,

as the Clinical Supervisor for a day treatment program treating emotionally and

behaviorally challenged populations, and as a Mental Health Manager for an Early Head Start and Head Start program.  Tammy has been a member of The National Association of Social Workers, and was a presenter at an NASW Convention.  She served on The Board of Directors for the RI Association for Infant Mental Health, and presented at a New England Head Start Annual Conference.  As a member of a

RI Task for Children Under Six, Tammy was awarded The Carol Prendergast Award. 

She is also a Level I and II Certified EMDR Therapist, and Certified Infant Massage Instructor. 

In an effort to better meet the needs of children and families, Tammy and several colleagues

also developed a School Partnership Program Resource Guide and intervention initiative.    

Tammy utilizes a Strength-Based, Cognitive-Behavioral approach to her practice. Evidenced-based Relational, and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy techniques are also incorporated into her treatment portfolio. She believes in fostering positive, trusting, and productive counseling relationships with her clients, as they strive to reach their personal goals and overall wellness.
